Bajaj, TVS, and Polaris contribute to PM’s National Relief Fund

Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto spoke of the unforeseen disaster and damage to property and infrastructure worth crore. In feeling the grief of fellow citizens in the state, they need help at this critical time to deal with the tragedy, and to rebuild their lives. The Prime Minister has made an appeal to all Indians to donate to the PM’s National Relief Fund for those affected, and Bajaj supports the government’s effort to help in relief operations. Ongoing relied efforts are part of Bajaj’s CSR and philanthropic activities at an expected contribution upward of Rs 150 crores during the current FY 2014-15.

TVS Motor has sent 6.5 tonne medicines worth Rs One Crore, and a team of 40 Doctors for J&K flood victims through its CSR arm Srinivasan Services Trust. Medicines have been delivered to the Military hospital, J&K so medical aid is made available to those in need of antibiotics and general medicines in affected areas.

Some of these doctors hail from Kashmir and familiar with language and topography which helps in effective and faster reach of medical attention. TVS Motor has tied up with Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute for this humanitarian medical relief initiative. SRMC & RI is also sending medicines worth Rs 30 lakhs.

Polaris India has volunteered four demo Off-Road Vehicles (ORVs) to NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) to assist in relief efforts. Vehicles pressed into service are Ranger 6×6 800, Ranger Crew 800, RZR XP 4 900, and Sportsman MV 700, and were handed over to ‘Sh. O.P. Singh IPS’, Director General National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at New Delhi.

J&K floods have ruined lives and livelihood. Polaris is saddened by the magnitude of tragedy. As entire roads in and around the states are damaged and non-existent now, Polaris India extends a hand of support to help accelerate the relief operations. The specialised Off-Road Vehicles will help make debris laden areas accessible says Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd.

Polaris will also be sending its ambulance modified on Ranger 6X6 by Bafna Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. With unmatched traction and capacity, engine capacity of 760cs, it can manoeuvre difficult terrains to supply medical help and assistance. Polaris has also offered to help train rescue and relief teams about its vehicle usage having deputed a technician/trainer with these vehicles.
