35-yr-old murdered at Jagraon bridge

A man, Arun, under the influence of drugs murdered Billa, 35, by smashing his head with a stone at Jagraon bridge early on Wednesday. The victim sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot and Arun was later arrested. Investigation revealed that Billa used to sleep at the footpath.

Police sources said the victim and the deceased were pick pocketers and Arun was angry with Billa as he did not give him his share of money. However, the Kotwali police said that the duo entered into a scuffle as there was less space on the footpath where they used to sleep. Following the complaint lodged by Vishal who was also present at the spot, police registered a case of murder.

The body of the deceased has been kept at Civil Hospital and post mortem would be conducted on Thursday, police said.
