An RMS spokesperson said Dora Creek bridge was not being singled out, and inspections were carried out every four years.

"[The RMS has] engaged a contractor to carry out underwater inspections of 52 bridges in the Hunter region including Dora Creek bridge," they said.

"Inspectors record river bed levels and identify maintenance issues to prevent erosion, which could potentially impact the bridge supports."
