Become Kevin Bacon’s neighbor with this Dutchess County farm

A woman who turns around companies is gambling that her 1871 farm in Dutchess County will collect a winning price at auction — with no reserve.

Bettina Whyte, managing director and senior advisor at Alvarez & Marsal, a global restructuring firm, sits on numerous boards, including Annie’s Homegrown. Now she’s overseeing the sale of her 17-acre property, Meri-Mac Farm, at 483 Sharon Station Rd., in Amenia, NY.

The property, previously on the market for $3.75 million, includes a four-bedroom, 4½-bathroom, 8,500-square-foot farmhouse, a three-stall stable, a horse pasture, pool, poolhouse and a separate two-bedroom, two-bathroom guest house.

Whyte tells us that the home has been renovated twice and still includes many original rooms, including a music room and library. There’s also an elevator, four fireplaces, four full kitchens and a 2,500-bottle wine cellar, complete with an adjacent tasting room.

Neighbors include Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, and Meryl Streep and hubby Don Gummer. One of Gummer’s sculptures — a mock-up he did when he was preparing to enter a World Trade Center memorial sculpture contest — is also on the property.

DeCaro Luxury Real Estate Auctions will hold the absolute auction this Saturday, Sept. 20.
