400 new Metro feeder buses by Feb

The PIL had raised concern over lack of feeder buses at Metro stations in South and Southeast Delhi.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will soon add 400 buses to its fleet of Metro feeder buses travelling to far flung areas.

“Three hundred low-floor buses and 100 mini-buses have been requisitioned. Around 57 buses have arrived so far. They will take 4-5 months to be introduced after they are registered,” the counsel for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) informed the Delhi High Court bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice R S Endlaw on Wednesday.

The information was part of the reply which the DMRC filed in response to PIL moved by an RTI activist. The PIL had raised concern over lack of feeder buses at Metro stations in South and Southeast Delhi.

The court, however, directed DMRC to make all buses operational by February 2015, and directed it to start operations on at least one route in four weeks.

“The Transport department has approved Metro Feeder Bus services on two routes — Route No ML-74 from Hauz Khas to Amar Colony via Lady Shri Ram College, Greater Kailash, Police Station Siri Fort Marg, Gargi College and Kamla Nehru College; and Route No. ML-77 from East of Kailash to Chittaranjan Park via Savitri Cinema, Videsh Sanchar Enclave, GK-1, Zamrudpur, East of Kailash Metro Station,” DMRC said.
