Fresh row over Jayarajan’s remarks

September 18, 2014 02:57 am | Updated 02:57 am IST - KASARAGOD:

CPI(M)leader M.V. Jayarajan’s alleged derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy have triggered a controversy.

Mr. Jayarajan’s reported remarks came at a public function here to mark the first death anniversary of party activist M.B. Balakrishnan on Tuesday evening. With Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan reportedly stating that he would comment after examining the CPI(M) State committee member’s statement, Mr. Jayarajan on Wednesday appeared to have toned down his tenor, maintaining that he was only expressing anguish at Mr. Chandy’s poor governance.

Mr. Jayarajan told presspersons in Kannur on Wednesday that his intention was only to highlight the inefficient and corrupt governance of the UDF government. He said he was ready to express regret for his remarks if any person or organisation was hurt by it.
