TOKYO -- Tokyo Electric Power is expected to name as early as this month a rival utility serving central Japan as its partner for a fossil fuel power alliance involving joint procurement and plant management.
Tepco will give Chubu Electric Power preferential negotiation rights to discuss the specifics, with the aim of reaching an agreement by year's end. The list of potential partners that had five companies in June, including Kansai Electric, Osaka Gas and JX Holdings, was whittled down to just Chubu Electric after Tokyo Gas withdrew.
