CBI inquiry demanded into financial irregularities in BHU

Varanasi: Surendra Bahadur Singh, who used to donate money to Banaras Hindu University (BHU), has demanded a CBI probe into alleged financial irregularities committed during the tenure of former vice chancellor Lalji Singh.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Surendra, a native of Rae Bareli, alleged that there had been a big scam of about Rs 220 crore in the name of a foundation registered under the Company's Act.He further alleged that corrupt practices were being resorted to in construction of trauma centre and modular kitchen on the campus. He said that the norms laid by UGC in the recruitment procedure of staff were also overlooked. He demanded the report of fact finding committee be made public.
