HTC One (M8) gets Champions League collector's edition

The Taiwanese manufacturer HTC, a sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, has unveiled a special collector's edition of its One (M8) dedicated to the tournament. Not made for retail, the smartphone will be given away in online competitions this October.

Like the usual HTC One (M8), this special edition comes with a 5-inch HD (1080p) screen and Android KitKat with the HTC Sense software suite. One of the more original features is the Duo Camera, consisting of a primary sensor with a double flash and a second sensor that detects depth of field. The solution is said to allow for better control over certain visual effects. The smartphone can also take videos in slow motion to intensify the action in certain scenes, and selfie enthusiasts will appreciate its 5MP front-facing camera.

The new collector's edition HTC One (M8) is engraved with the UEFA Champions League trophy on its aluminum case and comes with the HTC FootballFeed app for access to the latest news and information on the two European tournaments (Champions League and Ligue Europa), including results and post-game analysis.

HTC is expected to organize a series of social media contests, starting in early October, to give away the official UEFA Champions League smartphone, which is not intended for retail.
