Jackson Martinez will be the man that Porto will look up to, as they look to get maximum points out of a home fixture against BATE. Although Porto might not be in too great a form themselves, they are being carried forward by their captain and forward Martinez.

As Porto struggled against Vitoria Guimaraes in the weekend, it was Martinez, who fired in his fifth goal in four games to earn a 1-1 draw for the Dragons. The Colombian striker believes that Porto need better creativity to breach the BATE defence, and register their first win of this season's Champions League.

"We faced a good team that worked well at the weekend," Martinez said, on Porto's official website. "We had many difficulties and didn't have much room to play our football. We can't just assume there are teams that work less than we do and we must respect our opponents.

"Teams will always close us down, but it's up to us to deal with that and move the ball better to open them up. We need to have quicker tempo in midfield at the right times. We obviously still have things to improve but each game is a different story."

BATE on the other hand will be looking to catch the Portuguese outfit off guard at the 50,000 capacity Estadio Dragao.

"Porto are a very strong team but we know a lot about them," said BATE head Coach Aleksandr Yermakovich, to UEFA.com. "We are anxious to get out onto the pitch and get going. We are likely to base our game on a counterattacking approach – and try to win the match like that. We want to win and certainly didn't come here to lose.

This is the third time in four seasons, that BATE Borisov have qualified for the group stages of the Champions League. Thus, they will be looking to bank on their Champions League experience to beat Porto.

If previous results are anything to go by, BATE are by no means pushovers. The side from Belarus have had their fair share of giant-killing, when they defeated both Ligue 1 side Lille and 2013 champions Bayern Munich. Both these teams were beaten with a convincing 3-1 scoreline.
