Makers Rosetta Stone are mostly known for language training, but their latest app, Fit Brains, is more about honing your overall grey matter rather than brushing up on your linguistic skills. Once you start your daily training session, it will test your brain areas, from problem-solving to memory to language. You get a score known as the Fit Brains Index, which measures your performance across the five brain areas. And you do it all against the clock. The free version is basic, but if you choose to upgrade, you can unlock games that will allow you to work on specific areas – counting blocks to increase your speed score or completing patterns to work on problem=solving skills. There’s also a daily training reminder you can set.

But does it keep your mental acuity sharp? It’s too early to tell, but it certainly can’t hurt to give it a try. At worst, it’s a great time waster. And you’ll certainly be prepared for any urgent block-counting emergencies that may arise.
