France condemns attack against Egyptian police in Sinai

PARIS, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- The French government on Wednesday condemned an attack Tuesday in the Sinai against Egyptian police forces in which six policemen were killed near Rafah.
The six died when a hidden roadside bomb blew up as the police patrol passed by and the attack is said by Egyptian services to have the hallmark of terrorists linked with Al-Qaida.
"France condemns the attack, which on September 16 in the Sinai cost the lives of six Egyptian policemen," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement here.
Presenting condolences to the relatives of the victims, France said "it stands by the side of the Egyptian authorities and people in their fight against terrorism." (end) jk.mt
