BHOPAL: Hitting out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj, the national vice-president of Jamiat Ulama Hind, Mufti Abdul Razzaq Khan on Tuesday demanded strict action against BJP MP for his disparaging remark against madrassas.
Sakshi Maharaj's recent comment, in which he called madrassas as 'hubs of terror and jihadis', has led to a war of words.
He had alleged that students were not being taught about nationalism in the religious schools and said, "To teach students only about Quran and turn them into terrorists and jihadis is not in the best interests of the nation."
Sakshi Maharaj had also alleged that madrassas don't hoist national flag on August 15 and January 26. Taking a dig at BJP MP, Razzaq said, "August 15 and January 26 is like Eid to every Muslim of the nation. It is our common Eid which we celebrate."
"Strict action should be taken against people who are dividing communities. They are disturbing peace and harmony of the country. This kind of comments will only lead to destruction in the country," Razzaq added. Speaking on the issue of love jihad, he said, "There is no such thing as love jihad in our religion. For Indian muslims, there was only one Jihad and that was the jihad for independence of the country."
After that there has been no jihad, Razzaq added. "These comments are a part of conspiracy aimed at disturbing the peace of the nation," he added.
