A class 8 student drowned while four others were rescued from a water pit at a Metro construction site in east Delhi on September 6.

The area residents had alleged that the Metro administration had left the open pit which resulted in the accident.

The commission observed that the contents of the press reports, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victim child, the official added.

The 15-year-old resident of Arya Nagar Colony in Karkardooma was returning home from Sarvodaya School when the teenager, named Kartik, and his friends decided to take a dip in the pit.

Kartik had been rushed to a hospital in a critical condition, where he was declared brought dead.
