Japanese auto maker Honda has unveiled the prototype of its new European Jazz hatchback, to be premiered soon at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The prototype introduces a completely new body shell for the Jazz, with a sleek and contemporary design. As a part of the company's 'small series' range, the third generation European Jazz will be built on Honda's global compact platform.

Exteriors

External dimensions of the Jazz have been changed, with the length being 15mm longer and the wheelbase 30mm longer than the earlier model. The fuel tank of this vehicle will be present at the centre, with the aim of maximising cabin room space.

Interiors

On the inside, the new Honda Jazz will come with versatile Honda Magic seats. A lot of storage space, in the form of upper and lower glove box, cup holders, front console box, a box under the rear seat and two hooks in the boot have been provided. Honda claims that the ride is more refined and comfortable as compared to the Jazz's previous version.

Engine and transmission

Under the hood, the next generation Honda Jazz gets a new 1.3 litre i-VTEC petrol engine, supported by Honda's Earth Dreams Technology, which ensures high fuel economy and performance. the engine will come with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a Continuously Various Transmission (CVT).

More details on the new Honda Jazz will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show, to be held in October 2014. It will go on sale in early 2015, and the Indian launch is expected in March 2015. Honda Cars India hopes to make the new Jazz a success this time around in the country, after learning from its past mistakes.
