Carbon is back in vogue as the mysterious-sounding element of choice, and Aston Martin is set to reveal the Vanquish Carbon Edition at the Paris Motor Show in October. Gaydon's flagship has been in production since 2012 in its current form, and features a 6.0-liter V12 under that long hood. The Vanquish will be the fourth Aston Martin model to receive the Carbon treatment, after the DBS, DB9, and the Vantage.

Set to be offered in convertible and coupe form, the Vanquish will feature stylistic accents such as 10-spoke gloss-black alloy wheels, black window surrounds and black headlight trim pieces. The interior will receive Alcantara and dark leather, anodized black speaker grilles for the Bang & Olufsen audio system, quilted seats and carbon fiber trim pieces for the sills and the center console surround. Buyers will also get a choice of black, red, yellow, or gray brake calipers.

The Carbon Editions of the Vanquish and Vanquish Volante will be available with black or white exterior paint. Performance upgrades will not be on the menu, however, so the Carbon Edition Vanquish will still pump out 568 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque channeled to the rear wheels via a new eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission dubbed Touchtronic III, which was rolled out amid other updates for the 2015 model year. New steering and stability control systems, along with new dampers and tweaked Bosch electronics also made their debut in the updated 2015 model, netting a 0 to 60 sprint time that dropped from 4.1 seconds to just 3.6 seconds.

The Carbon Edition Vanquish will be fully unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, which is set to run from October 4 through October 10. In the meantime, you can check out the microsite that the company has launched prior to the reveal in Paris.

About the Paris Motor Show

The Paris motor show -- or as it is officially known, Mondial de l’Automobile -- occurs every two years, alternating with the Frankfurt motor show in Germany. It's a spotlight for the latest in design, but automakers will also show off their latest concept cars, green cars and supercars. Check out all the action from the 2014 Paris motor show right here.
