Tanáiste and Labour leader Joan Burton has said her party would not be rushing into Coalition with Fianna Fáil given the damage that party did to the country.

She was responding to comments from Micheál Martin in which he dismissed suggestions of a Fianna Fáil-Fine Gael coalition.

Speaking at the end of her party's mini-conference in Wexford Ms Burton also said Labour would continue to prioritise incentivising people back to workplace.

She said the era of tax increases and spending cuts was at an end and there was scope for modest relief for low and middle income earners in next month's budget.

Meanwhile, the meeting of Fianna Fáil TDs and Senators in Roscommon has concluded.

The party is to put down a motion in the Dáil tomorrow that will call for households with poor water quality to be exempt from water charges.

This morning the party also focused on the new rules that will require 30% of candidates to be women.

Currently there are only two women in Fianna Fáil Parliamentary Party.
