New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has had a very successful year as chairman of the Republican Governors Association, bringing in $75 million since November, the group announced Tuesday.
“This fundraising success gives the RGA the critical resources it needs to elect and re-elect GOP Governors this November so they can reform their states using pro-growth, pro-jobs policies,” said RGA spokesman Jon Thompson.
The group made the announcement as Mr. Christie, who is considering running for president in 2016, stopped in South Carolina where the first southern presidential primary will be held.
Mr. Christie is visiting on behalf of the RGA, stumping for Gov. Nikki Haley at a fundraiser before heading to another RGA event in Charleston.
He is also expected to swing through North Carolina to attend a private fundraiser in Wilmington for Senate candidate Thom Tillis.
In July, the RGA announced it had $70.3 million cash on hand and planned to spend over $100 million in the final 100 days before the November midterm elections, according to nj.com.
