Sharjah: Two sisters jumped off a first-storey balcony at an apartment complex on Tuesday morning in order to escape police arrest, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The two sisters, identified as A.R.R., 26, and F.R.R.,34, were illegal residents who hail from Pakistan.

“The two sisters tried to escape from the police, and so they jumped from a building located in an area of Sharjah,” police said.

The attempt to flee was witnessed by several neighbours who watched the siblings plunge to the ground.

Police officials attended the scene and found the victims had sustained moderate to severe injuries.

The sisters were taken to hospital to receive medical attention.

The police raided the apartment after police were tipped off that an apartment in an area of Sharjah accommodated a number of illegal residents.

The two sisters were transferred to Al Kuwaiti Hospital and placed under police supervision.

The incident is under investigation.
