3 held for blackmailing bizman in Tati Jharia

HAZARIBAG: Tati Jharia police on Sunday night arrested three criminals — Loknath Yadav, Prakash Yadav and Mahendra Mahto — from the area for allegedly blackmailing a contractor of the area.
The trio, belonging to adjoining CPI(Maoist)-dominated Bishnugarh block, had been demanding Rs 3 lakh, from one Loknath Mahto, a contractor residing in Tati Jharia area, said SP Manoj Kaushik. The three of them had been posing as Maoists, he added.
Kaushik said the trio had threatened Mahto of killing him and his family within 24 hours if the money was not paid and had warned him not to contact the police. Mahato panicked and informed the officer-in-charge of Tati Jharia police station. Mahto later got another call from the trio. The police tapped the phone call found that the call was made from a mobile phone registered in Chattishgarh. Based on the information the police arrested them.
