Bollywood has always had a connection with heist films. The perfect robberies and the cat and mice chases have entertained the audiences to the core and kept them hooked to their seats. With Farah Khan’s Happy New Year building the enthusiasm, we bring to you a list of modern-day heist films and their roller-coaster money rides. Take a look!

Happy New Year (2014)
Six losers with different backgrounds set out to rob an international bank. Now we’ll have to wait for HNY to release to know if SRK and his gang of losers succeed in their heist act or no. The film stars Deepika Padukone in a hot and sultry avatar and Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah are at their comical best. This one’s going to be a must watch.

Dhoom series (2004, 2006, 2013)
The Dhoom franchise is one of Bollywood’s most loved heist films series. The first installment had the macho John Abraham racing on superbikes evading cops. Then with Dhoom 2 came the Greek God himself, Hrithik Roshan who played the role of a thief who had a taste for expensive jewels from all over the world. The last installment saw Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan in a double role totally nailing his part by playing a desi Robin Hood. All these men giving a tough time to cops played by Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra made the audience go berserk. Not to miss, damsels like Esha Deol, Bipasha Basu, Aishwariya Rai and Katrina Kaif have sizzled in their hottest avatars.

Special 26(2013)
Special 26 was based on the lives of a group of con artists who pulled off a series of clever robberies during the 80s. They robbed businessmen and politicians by pretending to be CBI and income tax officers and conducted raids. On the pretext of conducting raids they’d loot away black money hoarded by them. In the midst of mindless masala films, Akshay Kumar’s Special 26 made for a refreshing change!

Don 2 (2011)
Don 2 was the sequel to Shah Rukh Khan’s Don (2006), which was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic Don (1978). The story revolved around Don’s desire to take over the European market after having conquered the Asian underworld. However, the law enforcement wanted him captured and the existing European gangland wanted him dead. Despite the intense cat and mouse run, Don managed to pull off a heist that was beyond everyone’s imagination.

Kaante (2002)
When six bank robbers (Amitabh Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Mahesh Manjrekar, Lucky Ali & Kumar Gaurav) tried to pull off the perfect heist, they discovered in the midst of it all that one of them was an undercover cop. And that’s when things go awry. The film was inspired by the Hollywood flick Reservoir Dogs and director Quentin Tarantino claims that this was the best remake of his film.
