Naveen confers prestigious Kalinga Samman on Hara Prasanna Mishra

BHUBANESWAR: The prestigious Kalinga Samman, 2013 was conferred on eminent metallurgist Hara Prasanna Mishra. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik presented the award here at a function at the Institute of Physics on Monday.
Kalinga Foundation Trust has been presenting the Kalinga Samman to Odia scientists and technocrats for popularization of science amongst the common man since 2010. Including Mishra, five achievers from the state have received the award, official sources said.
On the occasion, Naveen also felicitated eminent scientist and Unesco Kalinga Prize winner for the year 2013 Xiangyi Li from China.
"Our education system should focus on developing better scientists and better citizens capable of governing their personal actions in a scientific manner. It is our fundamental duty to develop scientific temper and spirit amongst citizens, especially students," Naveen said.
Naveen also advised young scientists of the state to follow in the footsteps of Xiangyi Li.
