RAJKOT: Articles having antique value have been were stolen from Pratap Vilas Palace in erstwhile princely state of Jamnagar.
The Jamnagar police have registered a case against unidentified persons in the matter on the basis of a complaint lodged by the property's estate manager Balbhadrasinh Zala of Gurukrupa Heights.
The monetary worth of stolen articles is not known yet. Pratap Vilas Palace is located near Viral Baug in Jamnagar.
Stolen articles include a wall clock fitted in Kota stone along with three metal flowers vases.
Sources disclosed that five days ago the police had received a call about a possible attempt by someone to burgle the palace at night. But when the cops rushed to the spot they found nothing. It is assumed that the theft was carried out before September 10 by breaking a window.
Inspector C N Parmar of 'B' Division Police Station said that some suspects are being interrogated along with those who were held in an earlier theft at Jam Bungalow four years ago.
In 2010, a major theft of antique articles, weapons and utensils had been reported from Jam Bungalow, a part of Pratap Vilas Palace that was the royal residence of the erstwhile kingdom of Jamnagar. Police had arrested members of a gang in the matter. The articles that were stolen at that time were worth more than Rs 3 crore.
