Gawking, judgmental public should leave Ray and Janay Rice alone

If Ray and Janay Rice are still together after what transpired between them — something they sought to keep confidential — and if his wife even defends him from a gawking, self-righteous public sticking its nose in an affair the couple mutually agreed to keep private, then I envy the strength of their bond, the depth of their emotional commitment, and their loyalty to each other.

Lots of things, good and bad, happen between spouses, and friends, and family. Everybody knows this, and nearly everyone has experienced bad behavior to some degree, including the hordes of frenzied talking heads and pretentious judges of character.

If Janay and Ray Rice have chosen to move on from this together, who are we to interfere? What right have we to impose some public or personal standard, even if it is such a lovely opportunity to make us feel good about ourselves?
