Pindi police recover kidnapped trader

The hectic efforts and technical assistance of sensitive departments helped Rawalpindi police bust a gang of kidnappers and recover a kidnapped businessman from their detention besides ransom money and arms and ammunition, reliable sources revealed to The Nation here on Monday.
According to sources, the kidnappers, who were nabbed during a raid by police, had picked up a businessman, Mushtaq Hussain, along with his car on September 13 from the area of New Town and later phoned the victim’s family and demanded Rs 10 million as ransom money impersonating as members of the banned outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for the safe recovery of the detainee.
A nephew of the detainee approached Police Station New Town and got a case registered against the kidnappers. Police sought help from sensitive departments, which traced the kidnappers through mobile data and provided information to police.
Acting on the information, a heavy contingent of police carried out a raid on the den of the kidnappers where they had kept the businessman.
Police arrested the kidnappers and recovered arms and ammunitions from the possession, sources added.
The accused, arrested by police during raid, later identified as Zeeshan Abbasi, Muhammad Akmal Abbasi, Tasanuf Hussain, Fazal-ur-Rehman and Atif Jahangir, all belonging to Murree and Kottli Sattian. SP Rawal Town, DSP CIA Raja Taifoor and SHO PS New Town Ijaz Shah attended the press conference.
