Feds probe Ford Fiesta doors that won't latch

Ford Fiesta , seen here as the 2011 model, are being investigated for doors that don't properly latch

Federal safety regulators have opened a preliminary investigation to look into reports that the doors of some Ford Fiesta won't latch.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has received 61 complaints about 2011 to 2013 Fiestas with doors that wouldn't properly latch, often leading into the illumination of the "door ajar" light on the dashboard.

Among them, 12 motorists say the cars opened once the car was in motion. There was one reported injury to a passenger who was hurt when the car door flung open then came slamming back.

NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation says it will analyze the "scope, frequency and consequence" of the door issue.
