DI KHAN: Alleged Taliban militants barged into the house of Kulachi SHO Saifur Rehman in Rorhi, DI Khan late Sunday night and opened fire at his family members, killing his father and two brothers. The murders are considered to be an act of “revenge” after a local Taliban commander was killed in a police encounter earlier that day.

According to the FIR filed with Gomal police, militants entered the SHO’s house and said they had come to take revenge for the death of Salim Shah, a Taliban commander. Shah was shot dead in a police encounter in Lonee, Kulachi.

The FIR was filed by Asghar Khan, one of Rehman’s brothers who survived the attack. It stated militants opened indiscriminate fire, killing the SHO’s father Juma Khan, and brothers Fakhir Zaman and Muhammad Ismail. They fled after the attack.

Rehman’s other brother Asghar Khan was injured and taken to a hospital. According to Asghar, the militants said they will “not leave Rehman alive”. However, the SHO was not at home at the time of the attack.

Local militants Amin Jan alias Malang, Nauroz alias Abu Bakar, Abbas, Umar Baz, Bahadar, Najeebullah, Nadeem, Qari Dawood and Khalid Mansoor have been named in the FIR.
