PDD casual labour electrocuted to death; family alleges foul play

BHADERWAH, Sept 15: A casual labourer engaged with Power Development Department (PDD) Gandoh got electrocuted to death while repairing a transformer at Gandoh.
However, his family members and people from his native Village Sinoo held protest and alleged some foul play behind the death.
The PDD casual labour namely Suresh Kumar, son of Kunj Lal, a resident of Village Sinoo, Gandoh was engaged in repairing a damaged transformer in Gandoh. Despite shutdown announced by PDD, the power supply was resumed and Suresh Kumar got electrocuted to death.
He was rushed to Gandoh hospital, where doctors pronounced him as brought dead. The body was handed over to family members for last rites, after completing legal-medical formalities.
A case under FIR number 108/14 under Section 304-A RPC was registered at Gandoh Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, family members along with hundreds of people of village Sinoo carrying the dead body held protest. The protestors sat on road and blocked the Gandoh-Doda road for around five hours, leading to stranding of hundreds of vehicles.
The family members alleged that the despite shutdown announced by PDD, the power supply was resumed, when their kin was engaged in repairing the transformer.
They alleged that some of the PDD officials are having some enmity with their kin and they allegedly resumed the power supply, which resulted into the death due to electric shocks.
The protestors suspected of some foul play and were demanding immediate arrest of those, who were behind the death of their kin.
On getting information, police team headed by SDPO Gandoh GK Ganjoo rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.
SDPO Gandoh assured the protestors of fair and partial probe into the case. He also assured of strict action against those, who will be found guilty.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and the vehicular movement was restored.
