Want to perform at Dilli Haat? Govt panel to interview artists

According to the department secretary, the idea is to involve artists who have yet to find a platform to showcase their talent.

The Department of Art and Culture is doubling up as a ‘talent show judge’ by deciding to set up a selection panel to interview artists who wish to perform at the three Dilli Haats every weekend.

The department will shortly release an advertisement for the same.

According to the department secretary, the idea is to involve artists who have yet to find a platform to showcase their talent.

“We have seen so many bands and folk artists who have enormous talent but are yet to find a stage to showcase it. By inviting artistes, we can channelise their untapped potential… and provide them with an audience,” S S Yadav, Secretary (Art and Culture) said.

The applicants will have to go through a screening process before they can perform. Though the committee that will screen the applicants is yet to be formed, sources said that it is likely to have prominent people from various fields of art and culture.

Festive offer

Meanwhile, the department has not yet considered paying the artists. “We have not yet decided to pay the artists. As we are doing this on an experimental basis, we will look at the responses we will get before making a commitment. It is likely that with time, we may fix a remuneration for the artistes, who will help in promoting the haats as a vibrant cultural place,” Yadav said.
