Benefactors offer help to EAMCET ranker

Ajmeera Laxman had bagged the 120th rank in the Eamcet medical examination

Karimnagar: A day after Deccan Chronicle carried the report on Ajmeera Laxman ‘the 18-year-old who bagged the 120th rank in Eamcet medical exam’ many donors, including an ex-serviceman’s wife from Hyderabad, expressed their desire to extend financial aid to him.

Laxman had said that he is in no position to afford the expenses towards acc-ommodation and textbooks. Speaking to this reporter, the donors said they were ready to bear the expenses towards accommodation and other requirements, to help Laxman pursue a medicine course at S.V.S. Medical College in Mahbubnagar.
B. Natraj, in-charge for twin cities of Freemasons, a Hyderabad-based voluntary organisation, said that the organisation would support Laxman financially. He said the organisation helps meritorious students who want to pursue a medicine course.

K. Venkateshwarlu, a businessman from SD Road in Secunderabad, too stated that he would like to offer financial support to Laxman. Meanwhile, N. Swarajya Laxmi, an ex-serviceman’s wife, too came forward to contribute some funds from her pension. Similarly, Dr P.B.N. Gopal, a critical care specialist at the Care Hospitals, Nampally; Dr A. Gopala Krishna Gokhale, a senior CT surgeon at Yashoda, Secunderabad; and advocate V. Anji Reddy, of West Marredpally, wanted to sponsor the poor student.

Expressing his gratitude, Laxman said that V. Haricharan Rao, single window chairman of Vallapalli in Medipalli mandal, agreed to extend financial support to him. “To start with, Mr Rao has given Rs 10,000 to me,” he added. Laxman had obtained 495 marks in Class X, and 924 in the Intermediate exams. His father is mentally challenged, and his mother is a daily-wage labourer. He has two sisters and a brother.
