KABUL - The Afghan presidential candidates, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai have said they are expecting to sign an agreement on unity government soon.

The issue was shared during a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in ARG presidential palace on Monday.

Dr. Abdullah and Dr. Ghani have said they are hopeful that the agreement will be signed in the near future and in the presence of President Karzai and other high level political figures, Aimal Faizi spokesman for President Hamid Karzai said.

In the meantime, the presidential palace media office following a statement said the two candidates met with President Karzai to brief the president regarding development in their talks on unity government.

President Karzai also urged the two candidates to accelerate their efforts to conclude the agreement as soon as possible, the statement said.

The statement also added that President Karzai has pledged full support to conclude talks on unity government. (KP)
