Arab airstrikes

Secretary of State John Kerry says some Arab nations have offered to launch airstrikes against militants from ISIS. The U.S. says it has found Arab nations willing to commit military assets - some even ground troops - but it's too early to name specific countries. France did get permission from Iraq to begin reconnaissance flights, reports CBS News' Elizabeth Palmer.

Destroy ISIS

Following the news of the beheading of British aid worker David Haines, British Prime Minister David Cameron vowed to destroy ISIS but, as CBS News' Charlie D'Agata reports, Cameron stopped short of authorizing British airstrikes. British officials reported the next in-line for execution by ISIS is another British subject.

True colors

The latest execution carried out by ISIS shows the "true colors" of the group, and stiffened the U.S. resolve to destroy them, White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough said in an interview on CBS News' "Face the Nation."

ISIS Congress

Members of Congress weighed in on the president's plan to battle ISIS, on CBS News' "Face the Nation." Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D - New York, and Rep. Michael McClaul, R - Texas, both generally support Mr. Obama's strategy, but both also have strong differences with the White House.

Schieffer on ISIS

In light of the grisly execution videos from ISIS, "Face the Nation" anchor Bob Schieffer says the U.S. has no choice but to destroy the group.

Iowa redemption

If Hillary Clinton decides a few months from now that she does, indeed, want another shot at the White House, her speech to 6,000 Iowa Democrats at the annual Harkin Steak Fry Sunday will be revisited as the unofficial kickoff to her 2016 campaign.

NFL fallout

Just before game time yesterday, the Carolina Panthers said they were deactivating defensive end Greg Hardy, who is appealing a July domestic violence conviction. CBS News' Vladimir Duthiers reports this and other domestic violence cases raise questions about how the NFL handles such cases.
