A museum in Jinping county, Guizhou province, housing 160,000 ancient documents will soon be open to the public.

In the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, timber along the Qingshui River in the county was transported to Beijing for building palaces.

A large number of contracts, account books and treaties appeared in the trade and became known as the Jinping Documents, which have been well preserved.

The new museum, which took four years to complete with investment of 17.82 million yuan ($2.9 million), has 11 floors and is home to about 160,000 of the documents.

No date has been announced for the opening.
