Lille climbs to leading position in France's highest division after week five

Lille become leaders in French Ligue 1

ANKARA

Week five in the France's top division "Ligue 1" completed Sunday night.

Olympique de Marseille, known as "OM" in France, defeated Evian 3-1 in an away match Sunday. OM snatched the win thanks to goals scored by French central forward Andre Pierre Gignac, 21-year-old right winger Florian Thauvin and Evian's Jonathan Mensah who scored an own goal. Evian's consolation goal was scored by Clarck Nsikulu in stoppage time.

Current leaders Lille beat Nantes 2-0 in their homeground. Belgian forward Divock Origi and Portuguese attacking midfielder Marcos Lopes scored allowing Lille, nicknamed "Les Dogues" (The Great Danes) to take the lead in the standings.

The last two seasons' domestic league winners, Paris Saint-Germain drew against Rennes on Saturday. Parisian tycoons scored the goal with Zoumana Camara, however, Rennes equalised with a score from Paul-Georges Ntep, 1-1. PSG's Swedish star and top scorer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic played in the match but failed to score on this occasion. 

Monaco were beaten by Olympique Lyon, "OL", with a 2-1 score on Friday night.  Two attacking midfielders Nabil Fekir and Corentin Tolisso scored for OL while Monaco's single goal was scored by 20-year-old Argentine winger Lucas Ocampos. The loss against OL forced Monaco to move back to 19th place in the standings.
