The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened on a negative note in Monday's first trading session, falling by 0.41 percent to 5,122.65.
Shares in seven out of the 10 sectors traded on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) weakened on Monday morning, with finance recording the biggest fall of 0.89 percent, kontan.co.id reported.
Infrastructure and construction followed, falling 0.66 percent and 0.61 percent, respectively.
In addition, kompas.com reported that 125 traded stocks had failed to make any gains by 9 a.m Monday, while 54 stocks strengthened slightly and 56 stocks remained stable.
The volume of transactions involved 528.14 million shares worth Rp 587.78 billion (US$49.71 million).
Stocks on the LQ45 index that experienced the biggest decreases at Monday's opening were PT Asiaplast Industries (APLI), PT Apac Citra Centertex (MYTX) and PT Intikeramik Alamasri Industri (IKAI). (nfo)
