UK-based band RDB fights it out in court over ownership issue

The singer, through his lawyer Ashok M Saraogi, alleged, the duo held equal number of the company’s shares and the band was formed as a joint venture among Manjeet, Surjeet and their late brother Kuldeep who died in May, 2012. He further said Kuldeep’s shares were equally divided between him and Surjeet. Since February 2014, Manjeet alleged, “Surjeet for reasons best known to him and without the former’s approval, started behaving as if he is the sole owner in respect to the company.”

Despite the issuance of several notices, Manjeet alleged, his brother has been utilising the company’s name, its trademark and properties, by performing in India.

The singer has, therefore, sought a permanent injunction, restraining Surjeet from using the name of the company known as “RDB Ltd”. While posting the matter for final hearing on October 14, Justice Patel asked Surjeet to file his affidavit in reply on or beforeSeptember 2, 2014.
