Odisha to expedite work for common railway corridor

The state government has decided to develop proposed 162 km long Angul-Talcher-Chhendipada Common Corridor Project in joint partnership with the railways. This was discussed at a meeting chaired by chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati on Friday, according to a government release.

BHUBANESWAR: The state government has decided to develop proposed 162 km long Angul-Talcher-Chhendipada Common Corridor Project in joint partnership with the railways. This was discussed at a meeting chaired by chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati on Friday, according to a government release.
Chief Secretary has asked the department to prepare definite proposal of this project for the government's approval.
The meeting discussed a study report on financial feasibility report of this project.
The proposed corridor aims to cater to the transport requirement of 32 coal blocks in the area. The project will substantially save the transport of the coal mines, the release said.
Pati also reviewed several other projects and asked the railway authorities to complete the projects designed for ensuing Nabakalebara within the scheduled time. The projects designed for ensuing Nabakalebara includes doubling of Delang-Puri, Khurda-Barang (3rd line), Cuttack-Barang, Raja Athagarh-Barang, Titlagarh-Raipur, Sambalpur-Titlagarh, Sambalpur-Talcher and Bansapani-Tomka-Jakhapura rail lines. Definite budget allocations have been done against all these projects during 2014-15. Pati asked the railway authorities to make cent per cent utilization of the allocation and calculate what would be the requirement of funds for completion of the projects before Nabakalebara.
The meeting among other topics discussed project regarding modernization of Bhubaneswar railway station. The project is being funded at the ratio of 50:50 basis by the Centre and the state government. The other railway projects like Khurda-Bolangir, Haridaspur-Paradip, Angul-Sukinda and Jharsuguda-Serdega Coal railway line under South Eastern Railway were also reviewed in the meeting.
The chief secretary during discussion directed the Collector and Superintendents of Police of the concerned districts to provide required assistance in distribution of compensation and ground level operations.
Also, the government decided to crack on the anti-social elements, who apparently create hurdle during the land acquisition process for various infrastructure projects, an official release said.
