KSEB mulls CISF security for dams
KOCHI: The KSEB may soon hand over security of its sensitive dams, including Idukki, to the Central Industrial Security force (CISF).
KSEB’s chief vigilance and security officer Rishi Raj Singh told TOI on Saturday that the board is considering it because of the increased security threat perception. “The KSEB chairman is concerned about it,” he said.

Sources said apart from Idukki, dams under the Sabarigiri project may also come under CISF cover as these two projects are provided security measures prescribed by central norms governing highly sensitive hydel projects.
The dams are now being guarded by the state police and KSEB-hired ex-servicemen. The CISF, being more sophisticated and trained, are expected to provide better cover for the structures.
