BHOPAL: MSc student, who succumbed in a couple of hours after shot at in Rewa district on Friday, was killed by her friend. It was accused, who brought the girl to hospital after firing at her from 32 bore pistol, it came out during police investigations a day after.
Poonam Patel, 21 was attacked outside Girls Degree College around 10:20am on September 12. Police said accused Sandip Shukla and Poonam were friends.
On Friday, the accused called up the girl on her mobile phone, asking her to meet. Later, Sandip brought Poonam on her motorcycle and took her to his friends' house, where they had heated discussions over their relationships, which turned ugly when Pradip pulled trigger on her, police added.
The girl, who sustained severe injuries, she was scared of her parents and requested accused to get her treated, later Sandip took her to a hospital, the girl and Sandip both told police that she was shot at by molester, police said. The girl, however, died in some hours, police said.
But the spot where they said the girl was shot at did not have evidence pointing to presence of molester. Later, during investigations, police recovered weapon, spent bullet and blood-stained bed sheet from the house of Sandip's friend.
Both Sandip and his friend have been arrested and booked under relevant laws on Saturday, police said.

Protest over killing spills on road
Angry kin of girl kept body of girl at Saman Square of Rewa and protested against the incident on Saturday afternoon, demanding arrest of killer.
However, protests could last barely for 15 minutes, sources said.
Rewa bandh, the call for which was given by certain groups, was not successful, as police resorted to minor lathi-charge at some places.
