KOCHI: Ernakulam central police arrested Nikhil Antony (23), a native of Kalamukku in Vypeen and Naseer (32), resident of Kunnatheri near Aluva, in connection with various theft cases.
Police said they caught Nikhil red-handed when he was looting petrol from a motorbike parked near Kalyaln Silks. On interrogation, it was found that he also used another bike robbed from a mall at Edappally.
Police also found that Nikhil and his friend Naseer had robbed several motorbikes from parking lots in the city. "Both the accused are involved in many petty cases registered at police stations in the city," said a source.
Ganja peddler held: Acting on a tip-off, Cheranelloor police on Saturday arrested a 36-year-old man hailling from Tamil Nadu for allegedly dealing in drugs. The arrested has been identified as John Peter. At the time of arrest, the accused allegedly possessed around 500 grams of ganja packed in 46 small polyethene bags. "The accused was standing at Kunnumpuram Junction near Cheranelloor, waiting for customers. We have launched a detailed probe to find where he procured the ganja from," said Cheranelloor sub-inspector P R Sunu.
Man arrested for robbery: Mulanthuruthy police arrested Rajendran (48), a resident of Udaya Colony near Kadavanthra for allegedly carrying out thefts at various churches and shops. Police said Rajendran mostly stole offering boxes at churches and valuables from shops. He was arrested during the night combing on Friday. He was produced before the magistrate and remanded for a fortnight.
