Stars flay instant film reviews on social media

Director Ranjith equated some of the comments on social media with toilet graffiti
Kochi: Film stars have criticised the social media for airing instant reviews of the movies hitting their commercial prospects. Director Ranjith equated some of the comments on social media with toilet graffiti. But in recent days, actor Joy Mathew and director Dr Biju locked horns over a dialogue in ‘Peruchazhi’ and they were ridiculed by Facebook users. They criticised the duo for fighting each other for flimsy reasons.
Kiran Raj, an advocate based in Kollam, posted, “Silly and tuny human beings. The world would be a better place if caste and religion are banished.” While Rakesh Mohan criticised both and posted that the movie bluffs were at the receiving end after watching the mudslinging episode.
Yasir asked Joy, “Ok, but what’s peruchazhi, in totality. What would have been ur comment, if u didn't have scores to be settled with Mr. Biju.” Joy responded with “I am not defending the film.” Another user said that the score was levelled at one each (1-1).
Dr Biju threw the first punch by flaying the usage of Attapady tribal in the movie Peruchazhi and claimed that the joke was derogatory. Dr Biju criticised actor Mohanlal though the dialogue was delivered by his co-star.
Interestingly, both chose Facebook as a medium to sling mud at each other. Joy Mathew used strong words to criticise Dr Biju and posted a status asking Dr Biju to join strikes launched by the tribes if he is concerned about their welfare.
Joy Mathew also added that Biju’s comments were hypocritical and said the words ‘Attapady’ and ‘Adivasi’ are not correlative.
A furious Dr Biju countered by posting a late night Facebook status claiming that Joy made the post on personal grudge. “After Joy Mathew missed out an award, he rang me up and abused me using caste name. Joy also alleged that it was because of my presence in the National Award Committee that he missed out on the award,” Biju said.
Biju also added that a person like Joy had no right to make such statements, especially when he was on bail in a defamation case. However, fans of the two directors still found time to support each and intensified the fight.
