Counting not over in JNU, ABVP claims victory in 11 councillor seats

While the ABVP claimed that it had won 11 of the 30-odd councillor positions, the other students’ groups denied these claims.

Chairman of the election committee for JNUSU polls, Dileep Maurya, said, “Counting of votes will take place on Saturday night and Sunday. We will get the names of elected representatives only on Sunday or Monday.”

However, members of the ABVP were seen congratulating themselves for the performance of their candidates. ABVP JNU President Vinay Kant claimed that they had won 11 councillor positions and that the party’s candidates were leading in the central panel seats as well.

Left-leaning All India Students’ Association (AISA)  denied the ABVP’s claims. “The final results are not out. The ABVP might be including independent candidates in their list. The picture will be clear only tomorrow,” an AISA leader said.
