Intermediate Annual Examination 2014: BISE announces top exam scorers

GCU, Punjab College for Women students nab top positions

Ahmed Rehman of the Government College University topped the Intermediate Annual Examination this year with 1,043 marks out of 1,100. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore announced the position holders at their office on Lawrence Road on Thursday.


Chairman Dr Nasrullah Virk announced the top three position holders of five categories: pre-medical, pre-engineering, humanities, general science and commerce. There were separate categories for girls and boys.

Muhammad Subhan, also of GCU, scored 1,037. Ifrah Siddiqui of Punjab College for Women stood second with 1,037 marks. Saifa Khalid of the Punjab College for Women stood third with 1,036 marks.

Boys outscored girls in the pre-medical group. The first three positions in the pre-medical group among boys went to Ahmed Rehman, Subhan and Awais Qarni, all from GCU. They secured 1,043, 1,037 and 1,032 marks respectively. Among girls in the pre-medical group, Ambar Akbar of the Punjab College for Women stood first with 1,027 marks followed by Sana Shahid of the Government Kinnaird College for Women with 1,025 marks. The third position went to Noorul Ain of the Punjab College for Women with 1,024 marks.

Girls outscored boys in the pre-engineering group. Among girls, the first position went to Ifrah Siddiqui of the Punjab College for Women with 1,037 marks, followed by Saifa Khalid also of the Punjab College for Women with 1,036 marks. The third position went to Sana Younas of the Lahore College for Women University with 1,035 marks. The first position among boys was shared by Arslan Tariq of GCU and Saweel Hameed Rathore of the Punjab College of Science with 1,033 marks. The second and third positions went to Jawad Haider and Tahir Mahmood, both of GCU. They secured 1,029 and 1,026 marks respectively.

In the general science group, the competition between boys and girls was a close one. The first position among boys in the general science group, went to two students of GCU, Shamsail Ramazan and Hamza Mazhar. They secured 973 and 972 marks respectively. Muhammad Saadat Atta of the Punjab College of Information Technology secured third position with 956 marks. Among girls in the general science group, all the three top positions went to students from the Punjab College for Women. Kainat Saeed stood first with 972 marks, followed by Mehak Seedat with 965 marks and Iqra Naseem with 958 marks.

In the commerce group, the girl and boy who stood first secured 1,008. The top three positions among boys went to students of the Punjab College of Commerce: Zaeemur Rehman stood first, followed by Muhammad Tauseef with 969 marks and Hammad Shafique with 968 marks. Among girls in the same group, Aqsa Israr of Punjab College for Women stood first, Rimsha Waseem of the Punjab College for Women stood second with 987 marks followed by Tayyaba Noor, a private candidate, with 984 marks.

In the humanities group, girls outscored boys. The first position went to Tayyaba Naqeeb of Allama Iqbal Public Higher Secondary School for Girls with 994 marks. Second position was secured by Amna Aamer of the Iqra Huffaz Girls Higher Secondary School with 978 marks followed by Momina Anwar of the Kinnaird College for Women with 964 marks. Among boys in the humanities group, the first position went to Allah Wasaya of the College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences with 954 marks followed by Saeed Ahmad of the Government Higher Secondary School with 934 marks. The third position went to Muhammad Ali Zaffar of the GCU who secured 929 marks.
