Aam Aadmi Party MLA Dinesh Mohania has in a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi claimed that he had informed the Delhi High Court Chief Justice in advance about his move to accept money from some BJP leaders in case it was required to reveal their alleged attempts at bribing him for support.

In the letter submitted on Thursday, Mr. Mohania narrated the entire sequence of events from how he was first approached by Mr. Dagar’s aide Raghubir Dahiya (who also features in the video) to how the video was shot. Both Mr. Dagar and Mr. Dahiya are seen offering a bribe to Mr. Mohania in the video, which was shot on September 7.

“It was nearly a month ago that Mr. Dahiya first approached me saying that he needs my help in forming the government in Delhi and that he was sent by Mr. Dagar to convince me. Days later, Mr. Dagar himself visited my office and asked me to abstain in the event of a trust vote. He invited me to a farmhouse for another meeting. This was followed by a series of phone calls from the two and a few more visits by Mr. Dahiya,” Mr. Mohania has written in the letter.

The Sangam Vihar MLA goes on to add that even though he played along with the allurements offered by the BJP leader, his intention was to expose them. He claimed that he told Mr. Dagar and Mr. Dahiya to carry out any deal through AAP leader Vivek Yadav.

“On September 7, I received a call from Mr. Dahiya saying that he wanted to finalise something. The meeting was scheduled for 2 p.m. at Andrews Ganj. There they offered me Rs.4 crore to become a turncoat,” said Mr. Mohania.

He added: “I had to inform a constitutional authority that under what circumstances I would accept the bribe, in case I did. I faxed a letter to the CJ conveying that it would be for bringing the true face of the BJP to light that I was accepting money.”

The party also released a copy of the letter sent to the CJ. An excerpt from the letter read: “The BJP wants AAP MLAs to defect and support them on the floor of the House. If they approach me then I will accept the cash and expose their dirty tricks… If I do so, I should not be treated as accused of any crime under any law because my intention is not to accept the bribe but blow the whistle… ”

AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal handed over both the letters as well as a copy and transcript of the sting to Mr. Bassi demanding legal action against Mr. Dagar.
