On September 6, even as Arun Gawli who has been convicted for murder and imprisoned for life, came out of the prison for an annual medical check-up, a film on his life went on floors in Mumbai. Titled Daddy : The Only One Who Did Not Run, the film was launched at the Orchid Hotel and Arjun Rampal, who has been signed to play the title role in the film, was present on the occasion.
Two maiden production houses Pentagram film Pvt Ltd and Sunil Mane Entertainment Pvt Ltd have joined hands to make this biopic on the life of Arun Gawli, the gangster turned politician.
Director Gaurav Bavdankar, a UK-based film-maker whose work includes ad films, music videos and corporate videos, said, “A lot of hard work has gone into the project with three years of research on the biopic and “now we are finally commencing the project. We are glad that Ashaji Gawli (Gawli’s wife) and Geetatai Gawli (his daughter) were present at the event.”
Producer Mandar Dalvi of Pentagram film Pvt Ltd and producer Sunil Mane of Sunil Mane Entertainment Pvt Ltd were also present on the occasion.
Plans are on to complete the film tentatively by January next year and release it in May 2015.
When contacted, however, Arjun Rampal was not available for comment.
