As of Thursday evening, nearly 100 people from Karnataka rescued from the flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir had returned to the State.
The control room of the State Disaster Management Cell in the city has so far collated data of nearly 650 people from the State stranded in Jammu and Kashmir. Of them, 256 are in contact with their families and officials. At least 122 of them have been flown out of Srinagar. They were expected to arrive in Bangalore from cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh and Amritsar.
Honeymooners from Mysore, Raghavendra Prasad and Nandini, who were stranded in the Valley, returned home on Thursday. Mr. Prasad termed the experience as “harrowing and terrible”. He was separated from his wife for the past two days as the Army prioritised the rescue of women and children. It was an emotional reunion for the couple — who travelled to the city separately — at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Thursday evening.
The airport witnessed many reunions of families throughout the day.
