SFI demands release of fee reimbursement dues

September 12, 2014 12:44 am | Updated 12:44 am IST - NALGONDA:

Activists led by Students Federation of India (SFI) staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday demanding immediate release of fee reimbursement dues.

Their attempt to forcefully enter the Collectorate was foiled by the police who resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. They also took into custody some of the SFI activists who were released later.

Speaking on the occasion, SFI district secretary K. Koti Reddy said that delay in release of fee reimbursement dues to colleges was causing problems to students as they were being forced to pay tuition fee by themselves.

Stating that they had represented to the State government on the issue several times, he said that they did not get any positive response from the government so far.

He demanded the government to convene a meeting to take a final decision on the issue. Else, he said the SFI would intensify the agitation by organising a series of protests. A large number of students arrived here from across the district and took part in the protest.
