The Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy will hold the 50th Belli Hejje programme at the Ravindra Kalakshetra here on Friday. Actor, director, music composer V. Ravichandran, popularly called the ‘Crazy Star’, will be the guest who will share his experiences in the Kannada film industry with the audience.

The academy had hosted Parvathamma Rajkumar as the first Belli Hejje guest way back on November 14, 2009. Actor and Minister for Housing M.H. Ambareesh was the 25th Belli Hejje guest.

On the occasion of the golden jubilee celebration of Belli Hejje on Friday, all the 49 actors who have been guests of the programme in the past will be present, and will also share their experiences in the industry with the audience. Among those who will be present are Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Minister of State for Kannada and Culture Umashree, and Minister for Information R. Roshan Baig.

Belli Hejje was first conceptualised by the first chairperson of the academy, T.S. Nagabharana. It aims at introducing the Kannada actors to the present generation besides documenting the 80-year history of Kannada cinema. Mr. Nagabharana’s idea was to develop an archive of sound and visual medium by recording of the contribution of film personalities by holding interactive sessions with them.

Though the programme was restricted to Bangalore, when actor Tara became the chairperson of the academy she organised it in New Delhi with actor, director, producer and TV host Ramesh Aravind as its guest in November 2012.

As part of the Belli Hejje programme on Friday, an exhibition of rare photographs of actors who have been guests of the programme in the past will be held. A separate section will focus on the 50th guest of Belli Hejje, V. Ravichandran.

A documentary on the Belli Hejje personalities will also be screened. Besides, a souvenir on them will be released to mark the occasion.

Chairperson of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce H.D. Gangaraju and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizer Ananth Kumar will participate in the programme.
