NASHIK: With less than a year for Kumbh mela to commence, the district administration has decided to revise necessary information about its inventories and knowing staff information from the responding departments. In the weekly review meeting held on Tuesday, it was decided to call for information which would serve as a baseline for upcoming preparations for Kumbh.
Additional collector and Kumbh mela officer R K Gawade said the objective was to have permanent information about the departments concerned. "At present, there is no authentic and scientific data with the collectorate. The updated information would be useful for short term as well as in the long run too," Gawade said.
The officer further said that the information sought from departments like irrigation, electric supply, police department and civic body would help understand the preparedness and what more needs to be improved.
The district collectorate has decided to create a crowd and traffic management simulator which would help streamline administration and crowd during the religious congregation.
"The information would be shared with the MMRDA officials through a hard and soft copy which would help manage the crowd. The software would help crowd management at different situations which would be studied and fed into the system. The module can then be implemented according to the situation that arises," he added.
Uday Kisave, who was appointed as the requisition officer for Kumbh during he meeting, said that information on type of inventories like poclain excavator and other instruments has been sought. Detailed information like the permanently owned inventory and the ones which are rented has been asked so as to have exact information.

Another decision made in the meeting was to ask the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to initiate work of the recently approved 33 Kv sub-station.
The district administration plans to acquire land on temporary basis for a year to make arrangements for Kumbh. "The district administration has identified the places to be allotted for Sadhugram in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar as well as parking places. Space allotment for setting up hoardings and temporary camps for the police department has also been identified," said Kisave. The date to start the requisition has not yet been finalized; however, the deadline for handing back the land is December 31, 2015.
