Saira Banu’s grandniece gears up for B-Town
Sumeet Saigal and Shaheen Ahmed’s (daughter of Saira Banu's brother) 17-year-old daughter, Sayesha, is all set to follow in the footsteps of her illustrious grandmother, Saira Banu, one of the loveliest leading ladies of the ’60s. She is one of the leading contenders for Ajay Devgn’s upcoming directorial venture, Shivaay, which goes on floors later this year. Ajay leads the cast of the film as well.

Sumeet (of Imaandar fame) and Shaheen (of Maha-Sangram fame), both actors, have been separated since 14 years. Sayesha, who is currently in the 12th standard, has been living with her mother in their Bandra home.

According to a source close to the development, “Sayesha loved the role and Ajay is keen on launching her. She will simply go with the name Sayesha and won’t retain her last name.”

Shaheen pointed out that her daughter has not yet signed on the dotted line but admitted that she has auditioned for a role in Shivaay. “She wants to be an actress and has undergone formal training. We had a meeting with Ajay but I don’t know if she will be chosen.”

She added that both Sumeet and she continue to be friends and are very ‘proud’ of their little one.

“Sayesha is a lovely girl, wellversed in all styles of dancing,” said Saira. “If she makes it in Bollywood, I will be happy for her.”
